ALMAR 027/11: CMC Revision of the Professional Reading Program List
The CMC, General James Amos, announced revisions to the Marine Corps Professional Reading List with the release of ALMAR 027/11 on 8 July, 2011. All Commanding Generals and Commanding Officers are to incorporate the new lists into their Command and Unit PME programs effective immediately.
-Each Marine is required to read the Commandant's Choice
First to Fight: An Inside View of the U.S. Marine Corps
by LtGen Victor H. Krulak, USMC (Ret.)
-Each Marine will also read a minimum of one book per grade per year. (CMC encourages all Marines "to discuss and debate the issues raised in reading list books in order to broaden their perspectives and benefit from the experiences of others".
-This requirement is to be recorded and reflected in the Marine's Pro/Con Marks or Fitness Report.
