Lejeune Leadership Institute
The LeJeune Leadership Institute was established in November, 2005 by the President, Marine Corps University.
LeJeune Institute’s Mission: The LeJeune Leadership Institute will advance the study and practice of leadership excellence throughout the Marine Corps, focusing on leader development founded upon our core values.
Integration of leadership development efforts at MCU schools. LLI is MCU’s lead organization to shape and coordinate leader development initiatives.

The Lejeune Leadership Institute is organized to advance the study and practice of leadership excellence within the Marine Corps University by focusing on leader development founded upon Marine Corps' Values for Marines and Civilian Marines.
The Lejeune Leadership Institute is structured to meet its mission by forming a team of experienced scholars, practitioners, and subject matter experts in the fields of leadership, ethics, education and curriculum management. The Lejeune Leadership Institute is composed of five branches that constitute a collective team effort to meet mission requirements.
To achieve this mission LLI is tasked with providing:
- A dual track educational leadership program for the Marine Corps' Civilian Marine workforce.
- A leader development and ethical decision-making, operational law, and legal matters for use in officer, enlisted and civilian PME curricula and for Marines and Civilian Marines in the operating forces of the Marine Corps.
- Conferences of appropriate scale to bring Marines together to examine issues of current leadership challenges facing the Marine Corps.
- Professional education and growth opportunities of general officers and senior executives.
- Courses for slated commanders and their spouses that focus on current Marine Corps policies that enhances their situational awareness and understanding of Marine welfare and family readiness issues, and a forum for discussing their leadership responsibilities as commanders of Marines.
- Education of professional development to Marines through independent reading and informal group discussions.
- A LLI Fellows program.
