John Wooden on Success

Perhaps the greatest coach in American history, John Wooden considered himself a teacher first.  The below video is much more about leadership than success.

John Wooden on Success

Growing up, Coach Wooden's father gave him several rules to live by that he imparted to his teams.  Think of these in terms of how you approach your leadership billet and set the example for your Marines and what you want to impart on those in your charge.

-Never try and be better than someone else.

-Always learn from others.

-Never stop trying to be the best you can be.

-Worry about things under your concern.
(If you concern yourself with things over which you have no control it will adversely affect the things over which you have control).

Coach Wooden's rules for his team were:

-Never be late.

-Be neat and clean.

-Start and end practice on time.

-No profanity.

-Never criticize a teammate.

He is the author of They Call Me Coach and several other books about leadership, life and coaching.
